Las Vegas is a championship city once again thanks to the Las Vegas Locos of the UFL. Last year, the Las Vegas Locos won the UFL championship in the league’s inaugural season.
The Locos took the opportunity to share their success with the city that supported them by hosting a free Locos Fan Fest at Sam Boyd Stadium on Sunday, April 11.
In spite of the wind, many fans turned out to thank the team for a successful season and spend some time with Head coach Jim Fassel and 20 players from the 2009 UFL champions. The crowd was enthusiastic and truly appreciative to spend time with the players and coaches.
Coach Fassel added to the excitement by speaking directly to the crowd and thanking them for having “belief in the team just like the team had belief in the league.” According to Fassel, “This was an awesome beginning to the UFL and really a lot of fun to have an event like this.” He also went on to praise the team by telling the crowd that he is, “so proud of these guys and we [the Locos] are really looking forward to next season,” especially since “the team is only going to get better!”
Locos Fan Fest gave fans a chance to meet the players, get their autographs, and participate in a mini combine that simulated many of the same drills that UFL players around the league go through in their very own tryouts.
Locos Fan Fest was an amazing activity and a great chance to get close to Las Vegas’ very own champions. I know that Las Vegas, me included, cannot wait for the next season and the next chance to get to know the team.
